AUSTRALIA CLOSED TO SRI LANKANS WITHOUT GENUINE VISA'S
People smugglers have been misleading Sri Lankans by convincing them to travel on highly dangerous boats, only to risk their lives and lose their life savings.
TOUGHER RULES
The Australian Government has announced it has suspended the processing of Sri Lankans who claim to be refugees. It is unclear when there will be processing again, but one thing is clear, many more applications for refugee status will be refused as a result of a tightening of the rules.
MORE CLAIMS REJECTED
The new rules will mean that many more Sri Lankans claiming to be refugees will be rejected and may be sent back.
Australia will only grant visas to those it considers to be genuine refugees.
So don't believe people smugglers who take your money and promise you can stay in Australia - their promises are just tricks to get your money.
